Communal clashes erupt in Nagamangala town of Mandya
Tensions engulfed Nagamangala town in Mandya district of Karnataka following clashes between two groups reportedly during Ganpati visarjan. A group set shops and businesses on fire, leading the police to impose restrictive orders in the area.
According to the initial report, young people from Badarikoppalu village were leading a procession for the immersion of the Ganpati idol. Stones were reportedly thrown at the procession close to a mosque on the main road in Nagamangala as it was passing by.

Troublemakers vandalised shops and set fire to two vehicles
The situation worsened, resulting in conflicts between the two groups, and troublemakers destroyed shops and burned two vehicles.
Police tried to regain control of the situation. Furious Hindu community members rallied at the police station, demanding the prompt arrest of those accountable for the situation.

Some footage also depicted a crowd hurling rocks towards another crowd.
In response, Police have implemented a state of heightened readiness in the region and invoked Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to manage the situation.
