China confirms agreement to end Army standoff in eastern Ladakh; agreement made on “relevant matters”
China confirmed on Tuesday that it has made an agreement with India to resolve the army standoff in eastern Ladakh. Beijing announced that an agreement has been made on “relevant matters” and it will collaborate with New Delhi to put these resolutions into action.
“Over a recent period, China and India have been in close communication through diplomatic and military channels on issues related to the China-India border. Now the two sides have reached a resolution on the relevant matters which China speaks highly of,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said in a press meet.
The minister mentioned that in the future, China will collaborate with India to carry out these resolutions.
Modi, Jinping could meet on the sidelines of Brics Summit
On Monday, the central government made a significant announcement that they have come to an agreement on patrolling in eastern Ladakh, bringing an end to a four-year military deadlock that began following clashes between the armies in Galwan in 2020. The declaration was made before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Russia for the Brics summit, where he might meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese Foreign Minister informed reporters that they would provide updates if there are any developments regarding a potential meeting between the leaders of the two Asian giants at the Summit.
After weeks of negotiations, the two parties solidified the agreement, which will resolve the issues that arose in 2020. During a recent meeting last month in St Petersburg, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed resolving the dispute between the two countries.
