OpenAI’s AI chatbot- ChatGPT appears to be going through a global outage leaving users unable to use the chatbot on the web or via the app. Users have also reported facing issues with the chatbot on the social media platform X.

And, the outage tracking website – Downdetector – has also received over a thousand reports from users about the service not working properly.
OpenAI’s Statement:
OpenAI has dedicated
Status page for all its services, including ChatGPT. According to the Status page, the ChatGPT and the API are experiencing “Degraded performance”. OpenAI has also put up a message on the page mentioning “We are currently experiencing elevated error rates in the API. We are currently investigating.”
Apart from this, there are two other updates on the ongoing outage, where the ChatGPT maker has mentioned that they still investigating the issue.
Outage Timeline:
According to Downdetector’s report, the outage started earlier today at around 5 PM IST and it is still down. As per user reports, around 88% of people have reported not being able to use the ChatGPT tool, and the remaining have reported facing issues with the website and API.
What caused the outage:
As already mentioned, OpenAI is still investigating the issue and is yet to reveal the exact reason behind the outage.
