CBI arrests Rocky, the alleged mastermind behind the NEET-UG paper leak case

On Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended the suspected kingpin of the Bihar NEET-UG case in Patna. Following his detention, the investigation agency searched different places associated to him in Patna and Kolkata, recovering several incriminating documents, according to officials.

CBI given a 10-day custody of the key accused

Meanwhile, a local court ordered the CBI 10-day custody of the main accused for interrogation.

According to accounts, Rakesh Ranjan, also known as Rocky, previously ran a hotel in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Rocky obtained the leaked NEET-UG question paper and delivered it to one Chintu, who distributed and printed the papers with answers for the students.

Rocky is the nephew of Sanjeev Mukhia, who is also accused of leaking NEET papers.

Rocky has also set up solvers for the NEET-UG exams once the question papers were published. Rocky hired several MBBS students from Patna and Ranchi as solutions.

The prime accused’s arrest came two days after the investigating agency apprehended two other persons in Patna, including a candidate, in connection with the case.

Sunny, a NEET-UG contender from Nalanda, and the father of another candidate, Ranjit Kumar from Gaya, have been arrested.

CBI has so far made nine arrests in Bihar NEET-UG paper leak case

According to sources, the CBI has detained nine people in the Bihar NEET-UG paper leak case, one in Gujarat’s Latur and Godhra for alleged manipulation, and one in Dehradun for general conspiracy.

The CBI took up the investigation following a widespread outburst by students over suspected anomalies in the medical entrance examination. So far, the CBI has filed six FIRs in connection with this investigation.

One FIR from Bihar deals with paper leaks, while the others from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra deal with cases of impersonation and test cheating.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
