Former Samajwadi Party (SP) state secretary Virender Bahadur Pal has been accused of raping a female lawyer who served as his assistant, leading to a case being filed against him.

Complaint filed by the assistant of Pal

Pal’s assistant, who used to be the president of the Mau Bar Association, lodged the complaint.

The woman claimed in her complaint in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, that Pal coerced her into a sexual relationship for the last year by blackmailing her with videos and photos. She also said that Pal had made repeated threats towards her.

After being president of the Mau Bar Association for two terms, Pal is now fleeing from authorities following the filing of an FIR. A comprehensive investigation has been started by the authorities while the victim was undergoing a medical examination.

Reports indicate that the woman who lodged the complaint got into a physical fight with Pal on the court premises two days ago.

Victim alleges blackmail, threats, and coercive sexual acts by Pal

Mau City Circle Officer (CO) Anjani Kumar Pandey stated that on September 7, the victim reported incidents of sexual assault, physical violence, and threats. After receiving the complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed according to the relevant legal provisions.

“An inquiry is currently underway for Virender Bahadur Pal, who is a lawyer residing in Chak Mehndi, Saraylakhansi and is the accused in this case. The victim has undergone a medical evaluation and legal proceedings have begun,” he stated.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
