On Tuesday, the Delhi Police filed two cases: one against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena for purportedly breaching the Model Code of Conduct, and another against her supporters for reportedly assaulting a police officer, ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.
According to the police, two members of the ruling AAP, Ashmit and Sagar Mehta, were detained for “assaulting and obstructing” the head constable of the Govindpuri Police station at approximately 1 am on Tuesday.
Police reported that head constable Kaushal Pal hurried to Baba Fateh Singh Marg after a large crowd was noted during the early hours of Tuesday. While Pal was reportedly video-recording the crowd, he was allegedly assaulted by the AAP members.
In the meantime, the AAP candidate from Kalkaji criticized Delhi Police, asserting that she was being penalized for opposing her rival, BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, for “blatantly breaching the code of conduct.”

Criticizing both Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and the Delhi Police for ignoring Bidhuri, Atishi expressed on X, “The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji’s relatives are openly breaching the code of conduct. No measures are being implemented against them. I submitted a complaint and contacted the police and @ECISVEEP, and they opened a case against me!”
The police stated that Atishi breached the Model Code of Conduct by coming to Fateh Singh Marg with ten cars and about sixty supporters on Monday evening.
According to the police, she declined to leave when requested.
Shortly thereafter, the senior AAP official was charged in a defiance case filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Atishi stated on X that the Delhi police “unlawfully detained two individuals who were documenting and filming MCC violations.” She also claimed that nothing was done against those who violated the MCC.
