BYD, a Chinese company, has introduced its third all-electric vehicle to the Indian market. Prices for the three BYD Seal variants—Dynamic, Premium, and Performance—start at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Chinese automaker’s present factory in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, will produce the electric vehicle, which will be shipped to India via the semi-knocked down, or SKD, route.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are safety features that come standard on the Seal. These features include adaptive cruise control, lane maintain assist, cross-traffic alert, emergency braking assistance, lane departure warning and prevention, and blind spot assistance.
The BYD Seal’s interior features include a head-up display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a sizable 15.6-inch central touchscreen entertainment system. Moreover, it boasts amenities like memory for the seats and ORVMs, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated seats.
The Atto 3 electric SUV and the BYD Seal share the same platform. The vehicle has dimensions of 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height, and 2,920 mm in wheelbase. Both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions are available on the BYD Seal.
The ‘Dynamic’ version has a single electric motor that generates 310 Nm and 201 BHP. With a maximum range of 510 kilometers, its 61.44 kWh battery pack powers it. The ‘Premium’ model can produce 308 BHP and 360 Nm and can travel up to 650 km on a single charge with an 82.56 kWh battery pack.
