At Kashipur in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar, a private bus carrying more than 40 workers lost control and overturned, killing one factory worker and injuring more than 24 others.

Sources claim that the accident happened on Ramnagar Road on Saturday morning while the bus was transporting employees from a nearby textile factory.

They said panic struck the area as the bus turned upside down. Locals helped pull out the workers from trapped inside the bus and informed the police.

When the police arrived, they took the injured workers to a nearby public hospital and found the body of the worker who had passed away immediately. The dead has been identified as Shankar Prasad, a local of Goushala mod in Sainik Colony.

According to Dr. Khempal from CMS Government Hospital in Kashipur, police have opened an investigation and submitted the recovered body for a postmortem examination.

POWER CORRIDORS

Power Corridors (PC), as the name suggests, is about realpolitik—what is happening in the quarters that matter, how and why it is happening, the statics and dynamics of the affairs of the state. Yet, PC is not confined to power politics; it goes beyond the vicissitudes of Lutyen’s Delhi. It also features the most important developments in the economy, society, culture, cinema—in life in general.

It is a general magazine, but it offers insights that would be the envy of specialist publications and academic journals. For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
