Ten to twelve explosions hit Jammu on Friday night, targeting areas near Sunjwan Army Station, as Pakistan intensified shelling across the LoC. The city faced a blackout and air raid sirens, with no reported casualties. The incident follows Friday’s clashes in Poonch and Rajouri, raising fears of further conflict.

At approximately 8:30 PM IST on Saturday, ten to twelve loud explosions were reported across Jammu, triggering a city-wide blackout and the activation of air raid sirens. The disturbances, which heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), were accompanied by heavy shelling from the Pakistan side.
Eyewitnesses reported that at least ten projectiles struck various locations near the Sunjwan Army Station, a critical military installation in the region. The sounds of artillery fire and intense shelling from across the LoC in the direction of Pakistan were also noted, escalating concerns in the border area.

As of now, no casualties or significant damages have been officially confirmed by local authorities or the Indian Armed Forces. Security forces have been deployed to monitor the situation, and the Indian Army is reportedly responding to the cross-border shelling.
Background: Tensions Escalate After Friday Night Clashes
The explosions follow a night of heightened military activity on Friday, May 8, 2025, when cross-border firing was reported along the LoC in the Jammu region. According to sources, Pakistani forces initiated unprovoked shelling in the Poonch and Rajouri sectors late Friday evening, targeting Indian forward posts. The Indian Army retaliated with measured counter-fire, leading to an exchange that lasted several hours. No casualties were reported from Friday’s clashes, but the incidents set the stage for Saturday’s alarming developments.

The blackout and air raid sirens on Saturday night caused widespread concern among residents, with local officials urging citizens to remain indoors and refrain from spreading unverified information. The Jammu administration has activated emergency control room numbers (0191-2571912 and 0191-2571616) for public assistance.
This incident comes amid a period of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further updates are awaited as the situation unfolds.
The explosions in Jammu on Friday night follow a series of aggressive military actions by Pakistan on the night of May 8, 2025, along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border. According to reports, Pakistan launched a coordinated offensive involving 300 to 400 Turkish-made Asisguard Songar drones and missiles targeting military installations and civilian areas in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhamp

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
