Bengaluru will see significant traffic restrictions ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for the launch of the Namma Metro Yellow Line on Sunday. The city police have announced diversions and road closures in key areas to manage movement and ensure security during the event.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays near the metro inauguration venue and surrounding roads. These curbs aim to facilitate smooth operations for the high-profile visit while minimizing inconvenience to the public.

Route and Connectivity
Stretching approximately 19 km, the corridor runs between R.V. Road (Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) and Bommasandra, with 16 elevated stations across Bengaluru’s southern and southeastern hubs.
Key areas connected Include vital stops such as Silk Board, BTM Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Electronic City, enhancing access to tech and residential zones. Anticipated to serve up to 8 lakh passengers daily, the Yellow Line promises to significantly improve travel across key city sectors and ease congestion.

Network Expansion
With the addition of the Yellow Line, Bengaluru’s metro network will expand past 96 km, making it the second-largest metro system in India. PM Modi will concurrently lay the foundation for Phase-III of Namma Metro, a ₹15,600-crore expansion featuring ~45 km of new lines and 31 elevated stations.
Traffic Curbs Ahead of the Yellow Line Launch
On Sunday, August 10, 2025, Bengaluru will implement traffic diversions, road closures, and parking bans from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, in anticipation of PM Modi’s attendance at multiple key events—including the Yellow Line metro inauguration, flagging off Vande Bharat Express trains, and laying the foundation for Phase-3 of the metro network.
