BCCI to invite applicants for the role of head coach: Jay Shah
The current men’s team coach, Rahul Dravid, will step down in June, therefore the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will soon start inviting applications for the role of Head Coach.
Secretary Jay Shah said revealing information, that Dravid may also apply for the position and that employing a foreign coach was still an option.
Following the meeting with the new coach, other coaches, including those for batting, bowling, and fielding, will be hired. Interestingly, Dravid’s contract was extended in November 2023 till the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is slated to start on June 2 in the USA and the West Indies.
“Rahul’s tenure is only up to June. So if he wants to apply, he is free to do so. We cannot determine whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign. It will be up to the CAC, and we are a global body,” Jay Shah said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Shah stated that the new head coach will be given the opportunity to lead the team through the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The new head coach will advise on the appointments of the remaining backroom personnel. India is not likely to divide the coaching roles according to formats, according to Shah.
Players representing teams knocked out in IPL to leave early
Shah additionally confirmed that the Indian team will travel in two groups to the USA and the West Indies for the T20 World Cup.
On May 24, the coaching staff and players whose teams miss out on the IPL playoffs will depart. After the Indian Premier League on May 26, the remaining players will depart. On June 5, India will play their opening game against Ireland.

For the last league games, Shah disqualified resting players whose teams have no chance of qualifying for the playoffs. He claimed that they had a fantastic opportunity to hone their T20 talents in the IPL.
Mayank Yadav will get fast bowlers’ central contract
Mayank Yadav, a fast bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants who is prone to injuries and is probably out of the IPL 2024, would be supervised by the BCCI after Shah announced he had been given the central contract for the newly formed fast bowlers.
