Civilian casualties, particularly among kids, have increased sharply since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, 2026, raising international concern over the conflict’s impact on non-combatants.

April 6, 2026: Iranian state media, including Fars News Agency, reported overnight (April 5–6) that US-Israeli strikes hit a residential area in Baharestan County, in Tehran province. At least 13 people were killed after two residential buildings were struck.
Subsequent reports said that six children — four girls and two boys under the age of 10 — were among the dead, underscoring the civilian toll of the attack.
Emergency response teams continue to search through the rubble. The Iranian Red Crescent Society has shared footage showing rescuers digging through debris in a race to find survivors. Authorities say more people may still be trapped beneath the collapsed structures.
USA and Israeli regime always win the wars against children.

Wider wave of strikes
The Baharestan attack was part of a broader wave of overnight strikes targeting areas in and around Tehran. Reports indicate that locations near Sharif University of Technology were also hit, including a gas station that suffered damage leading to local outages, and nearby buildings such as a mosque that sustained structural damage.
In eastern parts of Tehran, additional residential areas were struck, with reports of at least three buildings destroyed and around 50 others damaged. Separate local reports indicate at least four more fatalities in those areas.

Verification and uncertainty
While multiple international outlets are reporting the incident, independent verification of casualty figures remains limited, a common challenge in active conflict zones. However, there have been no immediate contradictions to the figures reported by Iranian media.
The strike reflects a growing pattern of civilian casualties in the ongoing war. Iranian officials and independent monitors say children account for a significant share of the deaths since late February.
The United States and Israel maintain that their operations target military and strategic infrastructure, including missile sites and facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Tehran, however, accuses them of deliberately targeting civilian areas and has responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory and US-aligned Gulf states.
Tensions remain high, with Donald Trump recently issuing an ultimatum linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz — a demand Iran has rejected, raising fears of further escalation.
