AR Rahman’s wife, Saira, publicly declared that she is separating from the music maestro. Vandana Shah, the lawyer of Saira, issued an official statement about the couple’s choice to divorce.
“After being married for many years, Mrs. Saira has decided to part ways with her husband, Mr. AR Rahman. This choice follows a period of intense emotional pressure in their relationship. Although they love each other greatly, the couple realizes that the conflicts and challenges have caused a divide that seems impossible to overcome, with neither side prepared to bridge the gap currently. Mrs Saira stressed that she made this choice due to the suffering and distress she is experiencing. Mrs Saira is asking for privacy and empathy from the public as she deals with this tough period in her life,” the statement read.

The two, who got married in 1995, are parents to three children- Khatija, Raheema and Ameen.
On the work front, Rahman’s last project was Dhanush’s second directorial venture, Raayan. Next, he will compose music in films such as Chhaava, Thug Life, Gandhi Talks and others.
