Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli announce retirement from T20Is

The T20I World Cup proved to be a perfect farewell to two of India’s finest white-ball players. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from the shortest format of the game after inspiring India to a T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados on Saturday, June 29. Rohit, the captain, led from the front throughout the campaign in the USA and the West Indies, while Virat Kohli, the ex-captain, delivered when it mattered the most for the team.

After the final ball was bowled at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, Rohit Sharma slumped down in the outfield and soaked it all in. India had won an ICC title after 11 years, and Rohit was instrumental in bringing an end to a much-discussed and frustrating hiatus. It was also a great weight off his shoulders as one of the most successful white-ball cricket captains recorded a redemption song for himself months after the heartbreak on November 19, 2023.

Minutes after Virat Kohli retired from T20I cricket, India skipper Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the game’s shortest format on Saturday, June 29. The two cricketers announced the end of their T20I careers after India won the T20 World Cup in Barbados by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final. While Kohli announced his retirement after winning the Player of the Match title at the Kensington Oval, Rohit made it official while addressing the press following the triumph.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have signed off on a high note, winning the World Cup for India for the first time. Kohli got the Player of the Match award for his match-winning 76 off 59 balls, which helped India score 176 after being brought in to bat first. India overcame South Africa by 7 runs in a dramatic final to claim their second T20 World Cup victory.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
