2 cops suspended for not informing seniors about crash on time
Two Pune Police officers were suspended on Friday for “not informing their senior officials” about a Porsche accident involving a minor driver last week that killed two people in the city’s Kalyani Nagar neighborhood, according to reports.
“Police Inspector (PI) Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector (API), Vishwanath Todkari, posted at Yerwada police station, have been suspended as they did not inform the wireless control room about the accident,” Pune Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar said.
The case, which was registered at the police station, has also been taken away and assigned to the Crime Branch.

A Porsche, allegedly driven by the 17-year-old, who the police suspect was inebriated at the time, killed two motorbike-riding software engineers in the city early Sunday morning.
The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) remanded the accused youngster following a public outcry about his previous rapid bail.
Earlier in the day, police indicated that attempts were being made to tamper with evidence to prove that the Porsche that ran over two persons on a motorcycle was driven by a family member rather than the 17-year-old.

“We have the CCTV footage of him (juvenile) drinking liquor in the pub. The point of saying this is that our case is not alone depending on the blood report as we have other evidence also,” Amitesh Kumar said.
“He (the juvenile) was fully alert. He was well aware that, as a result of his actions, such an accident under section 304 may occur,” he continued.
‘No special treatment to accused’: Pune CP
The Pune Police Commissioner also replied to charges of preferential treatment for the youngster, saying, “We have clearly stated that a pizza party did not occur in the police station.” But, certainly, something had happened, and we have launched an internal investigation. We’re attempting to make this a watertight case.”
A local court has placed the accused’s father, Vishal Agarwal, and five others in judicial prison until June 7. The prosecution has requested an extension of their police custody for further investigation.
However, the court ordered Agarwal and others, including the owner and workers of two liquor-serving places where the adolescent reportedly ingested alcohol before colliding with two software professionals on a motorcycle, to be held in judicial custody.
