The Enforcement Directorate will formally name jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as an accused in the now-scrapped Liquor Policy in its first chargesheet, marking a significant development in the case of the Delhi Excise policy.

Kejriwal to be Named Accused in Excise Policy Scam; Continues Legal Battles for Interim Bail

It’s crucial to remember that Kejriwal will be named as an accused in the excise policy scam for the first time. The central investigation agency will continue to refer to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the “kingpin” of the scam in the chargesheet, reiterating its earlier claim that he was the “key conspirator” in the case.

According to the ED, there is a money trail connecting Kejriwal to the case. A Delhi court earlier this week extended the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party’s judicial custody until May 20.

On Friday, May 10, the Supreme Court will issue an order granting the chief minister interim bail. Adding to his problems, a lawyer’s public interest lawsuit on Wednesday was dismissed by the Delhi High Court with costs of Rs 1 lakh, asking for suitable arrangements so that Kejriwal could lead the government while incarcerated.

Petitioner Requests Relief for Kejriwal; Delhi HC Notes Status of Complaint

In addition, the petitioner asked that Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva refrain from applying any “undue pressure” to Kejriwal’s resignation.

Acting Chief Justice Manmohan led a bench that noted that since the AAP leader had already filed a complaint against his arrest with the Supreme Court, “no orders were called for” to provide him with any facilities while he was being held in judicial custody.

The AAP leader was taken into custody on March 21 and is presently being held in judicial custody at Tihar Jail.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
