South Africa’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the United States and the West Indies from June 1–29, includes fast bowler Anrich Nortje as well as the uncapped players Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman.
South Africa’s T20 Team Composition; Nortje’s Return, Rickelton’s Form, and Markram’s Captaincy
Due to recurrent injuries, Nortje, 30, hasn’t participated in a T20 international for more than a year. Since making his IPL comeback this season, he has amassed a pitifully high economy rate of 13.36 runs per over over six games.
In the SA20 this year, Rickelton—who can also keep wicket—was the top scorer with 530 runs at an average of 58.88, and Baartman—who took 18 wickets in eight T20 matches—was rewarded for his excellent play.
The team, which also includes power hitters Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, and Tristan Stubbs, will be captained by Aiden Markram. Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi are the three front-line spinners that South Africa has chosen to take, with Markram being a valuable slow bowling option.

South Africa’s White-Ball Coach Optimistic as Squad Prepares for T20 World Cup Challenges
Rob Walter, the white-ball coach for South Africa, stated in a media release on Tuesday that “selecting this group was extremely tough considering the amount of T20 cricket that has been played recently and the form that has been on show.”
“I am nonetheless proud and confident that we have named the strongest possible squad that no doubt has every chance of success in the West Indies and USA.”
South Africa, who have never won a World Cup in the 50-or 20-over format, will play a three-match Twenty20 series in the West Indies to get ready for the competition.
In their World Cup Group D, they are paired with Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Nepal, and Sri Lanka; they will begin play on June 3 in New York against the latter.
