Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve today (March 9). According to an official, PM went on an elephant and jeep safari on Saturday morning inside Kaziranga National Park in Assam. In the Central Kohora Range of the park, Modi first experienced an elephant safari in the Mihimukh area before going on a jeep safari within the same range during his first visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Senior forest officers and Sonali Ghosh, the park director, were with him. An iconic feature of Kaziranga National Park is the one-horned rhinoceros. The park is home to tigers, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and elephants.

The visit is significant because the BJP has begun intensifying its preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for April and May of this year.

Tomorrow, to honour the indomitable spirit of Lachit Barphukan and to celebrate his valiant resistance against invaders, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji will dedicate the 'Statue of Valour' situated in Jorhat, to the people of Bharat. #ModiParivarAssam pic.twitter.com/cMMGgsUFBW

The 84-foot-tall statue of Lachit Borphukan, the renowned general of the Royal Army of the Ahom Kingdom of Assam who vanquished the Mughals, will be unveiled by the prime minister. A 500-seat auditorium and the Lachit and Tai-Ahom Museum were also built as part of the project. The project aims to raise awareness about Lachit Borphukan and commemorate his bravery. Additionally, it will increase tourism and create job opportunities.

On Friday, March 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Assam for a two-day visit. He will be inaugurating and laying the groundwork for projects valued at Rs 18,000 crore. After arriving at Salonibari airport in Tezpur in the afternoon, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior officials greeted Modi.

After that, he took a helicopter to Panbari in Kaziranga, where he was welcomed once more by state Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Sarma, and others. The last part of the PM’s journey was completed by road, covering a distance of roughly 15 kilometers from the Panbari helipad to the Police Guest House close to Central Kohora Range in Kaziranga National Park.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
