Persistent rumours about former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s death in prison have intensified online after an Afghan media outlet, citing unnamed sources, claimed he was killed inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Responding to the speculation, Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, has publicly demanded “proof of life” and the release of his father.
In a post on X, Kasim said his father has been jailed for 845 days and has reportedly been kept in a death cell for the past six weeks without any contact with his family.
“For the past six weeks he has been kept alone in a death cell in complete isolation. His sisters have been barred from every meeting, despite clear court orders. No phone calls, no meetings, and no news of his well-being. My brother and I have not been able to contact him in any way,” he wrote.

Kasim alleged that the enforced silence “is not part of any security protocol” but a deliberate attempt to conceal Imran Khan’s condition. He warned that the Pakistani government would bear “full legal, moral, and international responsibility” for anything that happens to his father.

He urged the international community and global human rights bodies to intervene, demanding confirmation of Imran Khan’s wellbeing, access to him as per court directives, an end to “inhumane isolation,” and his release, which he said was justified on the grounds of political persecution.
Imran’s sister, Aleema Khanum, echoed these concerns, telling NDTV that the family had been repeatedly denied meetings for months. “Sometimes they let me meet him, sometimes one of my sisters, and sometimes no one. Many times we wait outside for hours,” she said.
Jail Authorities Deny Rumours
Adiala Jail authorities have dismissed all reports regarding Imran Khan’s health as “baseless,” insisting he is “in completely good health.”
“The PTI leadership has been informed regarding Imran Khan’s health. All necessary care is being provided,” the jail administration said.
Officials also denied claims that the former PM had been moved from Adiala Jail, calling social media reports “unfounded.”
Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023, facing dozens of cases that he says are politically motivated. In January, he and his wife were convicted in a corruption case and handed sentences of 14 and 7 years respectively.
Earlier this year, PTI leaders alleged he was being held in solitary confinement in a death cell — a claim the family maintains has now escalated into total isolation.
