New Delhi | November 10, 2025 : The death toll from the horrific car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort has climbed to 13, with three more victims succumbing to their injuries in the last hour at Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP), officials confirmed in a late-night bulletin. At least 30 others remain under treatment, eight of them critical with severe burn, shrapnel, and blast injuries.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who reached LNJP earlier this evening, met with survivors and their families, offering assurance of full medical and financial assistance.
In a brief statement to reporters outside the hospital, Shah outlined the sequence of events:
“Around 7:00 PM, a Hyundai i20 car exploded at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near Red Fort. The blast injured pedestrians and damaged several vehicles.”
He said teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are jointly examining CCTV footage and evidence from the site.
“All possibilities are being probed, including terror links,” Shah said, adding that he would visit the blast site personally later tonight.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after reviewing the situation with Shah, expressed condolences on X (formerly Twitter):
“Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi. May the injured recover soon. Authorities are extending all possible help.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called the incident “extremely painful and disturbing,” joining other leaders in praying for the victims.

Eyewitnesses Recall Horror Outside Red Fort
Eyewitnesses described scenes of terror and chaos outside Gate No. 1 of Lal Quila Metro Station.
“Body parts flew through the air and landed right in front of me,” said one survivor, his voice trembling. “One person’s body was torn to pieces—I saw a hand on the road. My ears are still ringing.”
The explosion’s shockwave rattled doors and windows across Chandni Chowk and Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib.
“I saw a huge fireball from my terrace; the boom shook my entire house,” a resident recalled.
Dozens of ambulances rushed the injured from the congested tourist zone, less than a kilometre from Jama Masjid, as visuals showed charred vehicles—including electric rickshaws—and debris littering the narrow lanes.
Probe Intensifies: RDX, Ammonium Nitrate Confirmed
Preliminary forensic tests confirm the use of RDX and ammonium nitrate in the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). While no crater was formed, the explosion caused extensive fragmentation damage. The Hyundai i20, carrying a Haryana number plate and reportedly 2–3 occupants, was idling at a red light when it detonated.
Investigators are probing connections to a terror module busted earlier today in Faridabad and Jammu & Kashmir, where over 2,900 kg of explosives and arms were seized from eight operatives, including Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, a Kashmiri doctor allegedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) affiliates. One suspect is said to be in custody, though officials have not confirmed identities.

Security Tightened Nationwide
Delhi Police have sealed a two-kilometre radius around the Red Fort area, deploying drones and intensifying vehicle checks. The Chandni Chowk traders’ association announced closure of the market on Tuesday as a mark of respect and for public safety.
Alerts have been issued in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Hyderabad, with enhanced security at airports, metro stations, and key installations.
Political leaders across party lines expressed grief and solidarity. Mamata Banerjee called the blast “shocking and condemnable,” while Rahul Gandhi termed the loss “profoundly sorrowful.” A post trending on X captured the sentiment:
“Amit Shah meets injured at LNJP — prayers for Delhi’s resilience.”
