June 14, 2025 — In one of the most significant arms seizures in recent memory, the Manipur Police, in a coordinated intelligence-based operation alongside Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Indian Army, and the Assam Rifles, uncovered a vast cache of illegal weapons and ammunition during a pre-dawn operation conducted across five valley districts.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of arms and warlike stores in the outskirts of the valley regions, joint teams launched simultaneous search and recovery operations during the intervening night of June 13 and 14. The raids were meticulously planned and executed to target suspected arms dumps allegedly used by armed groups or criminal elements operating amid the ongoing instability in the region.

The press note issued by the Office of the Director General of Police, Manipur, called for public cooperation, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information about hidden weapons or explosives to the nearest police station or Central Control Room.

Officials indicated that more such operations would be carried out in the coming weeks as part of a sustained campaign to disarm illegal actors and rebuild trust among communities displaced or affected by the prolonged ethnic violence and security challenges in Manipur.
The Manipur Police emphasized that this is part of a larger strategy to stabilize the region, including counter-insurgency efforts, intelligence-driven patrols, and strengthening of community policing initiatives.
