Air India has protested against the Rs 1.1 crore fine levied by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the nation’s aviation regulator, for safety infractions. The aviation regulator fined Air India the specified sum for breaking regulations pertaining to flights conducted on specific lengthy and hazardous routes.

“We disagree with the order issued by the DGCA. The issues raised were thoroughly examined by Air India along with external experts concluding that there was no compromise on safety, whatsoever. We are studying the order in detail and will review the options available to us, including our right to appeal as well as taking it up with the regulator,” the airline said in a statement.

The action was taken after a voluntary safety report from an Air India employee, alleging safety violations by the airline. He has objected to the fine of Rs 1.1 crore, imposed for safety violations by the country’s aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The aviation watchdog slapped a fine of the said amount on Air India for flouting rules with respect to flights operated on certain long and riskier routes.

The aviation regulator said that the action was taken after a voluntary safety report from an Air India employee, alleging safety violations by the airline on some of the long-range, terrain-critical routes.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
