On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the government was prepared to welcome individuals wanting to visit India for tourism, education, healthcare, or business, but emphasized that threats would be addressed firmly. He expressed his views during a discussion in the Lok Sabha regarding the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, which was approved by the Lower House.

Shah stated that the government led by Narendra Modi would only restrict individuals with ill intentions from visiting India, emphasizing that the nation was not a ‘dharamshala’ (shelter home).

“Those who pose a threat to national security will not be allowed to enter the nation. The nation is not a ‘dharamshala‘. If someone comes to the nation to contribute to the development of the nation, they are always welcome,” he said.

The Union Home Minister stated that the suggested law would enhance national security, promote the economy and business, as well as support the health and education sectors. He also mentioned that the immigration bill would provide the country with current information regarding each foreigner arriving in India.

Addressing the matter of unauthorized entry into India by Rohingyas from Myanmar and Bangladeshis, Shah emphasized that the number of individuals seeking refuge in India for selfish reasons had risen, rendering the country less secure.

Shah cautioned that severe measures would be taken against infiltrators if they caused disturbances in India.

The Union Home Minister stated that the legislation would enhance national security and assist India in becoming the most advanced country globally by 2047. “I want to guarantee the nation that we will possess current information regarding every foreign individual arriving in our country,” he stated.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
