A few days after Punjab Police officers were withdrawn from former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal security team, the AAP leader has now asserted that Gujarat Police personnel have been included in the protection detail, questioning the idea behind the reasons for the change.

On Thursday, the Election Commission and Delhi Police instructed the Punjab Police to withdraw its officers from providing security to Kejriwal. According to sources within the Delhi Police, the security plan for Kejriwal, which included police officers from two separate states, was unlawful.

On Saturday, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) posted on X and shared screenshots of an order from the Gujarat Police regarding this matter, expressing dissatisfaction with it.

In response to Kejriwal’s criticism, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi stated that the personnel were assigned in accordance with an Election Commission (EC) directive for different states and questioned his “selective” reference to Gujarat.

“I’m astonished that you don’t know the Election Commission’s regulations. They’ve asked for troops from multiple states, not exclusively Gujarat. In accordance with their request, eight SRP companies from Gujarat were dispatched to Delhi for the planned election on January 11. What’s the reason for specifically mentioning Gujarat, Kejriwal ji?” Sanghvi stated.

When elections take place in any region of the country, the Election Commission summons police officers from various states for election duty.

The EC sends a letter to the Home Ministry, which then collaborates with other states and supplies armed police tasked with assisting in maintaining law and order. They are stationed at the voting locations under the oversight of the poll panel.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
