On Thursday, the Congress promised to offer 300 units of complimentary electricity, LPG cylinders for Rs 500, and free ration kits ahead of the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, during a press conference, announced the ‘Mehngai Mukt’ Yojana to attract voters in light of inflation, stating, “Congress will deliver on its five guarantees if it wins power in Delhi.” Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, accompanied by other prominent party officials, was also in attendance.

To engage women voters, the Congress promised last week to provide Rs 2,500 to each woman if they are elected to power. On January 8, the Grand Old Party revealed a new initiative named ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’ that promised complimentary health coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh.

The party also vowed to assist educated, unemployed young people by offering Rs 8,500 monthly for one year if they gain power.

The elections in Delhi are scheduled for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. AAP aims for a third consecutive win in the national capital following their strong victories in 2015 and 2020.

The BJP, which has not held power in Delhi since 1998, has amplified its campaign against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, attempting to pressure him and his party regarding corruption, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment labeling AAP as a ‘disaster.’

On the other hand, the Congress did not secure any seats in the previous two Assembly elections held in Delhi.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
