Star Indian player Jemimah Rodrigues reached a significant career milestone during the 2nd ODI against the Ireland women’s team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
Rodrigues smashed her first ODI century and reached 1000 ODI runs, achieving a significant milestone for the skilled cricketer. She emerged as the 10th Indian woman to achieve the 1000-run landmark in ODIs, a list headed by the iconic Mithali Raj with 7805 runs.
Rodrigues’ display was an ideal mixture of aggression and elegance. She not only achieved the coveted 1000-run milestone, but she also displayed her excellence by transforming the chance into her first international century.
The critical moment occurred in the last over of India’s innings. Facing Arlene Kelly, Rodrigues played a perfect cut shot, slicing through the off-side field to achieve her century.
The occasion was genuinely remarkable as Rodrigues took off her helmet and rejoiced with a distinctive gesture, imitating a guitar with her bat. Her fellow players, led by captain Smriti Mandhana, rose to applaud, recognizing the importance of her achievement and celebrating her outstanding performance.

Jemimah contemplated her performance and acknowledged that it took her a considerable time to reach her first hundred in international cricket.
“It has been a long wait to achieve this hundred. I’m pleased the team assigned me a role at No. 4 and I was able to perform well. Today, what mattered to me was to remain until the 50th over. Scoring runs isn’t a problem. good at that, but remaining until the end was crucial, and I’m pleased I accomplished that. With Harleen present, we first took time to evaluate the situation. I’m aware I can speed up, but during the time I took, Harleen encouraged me to continue believing. We shouldn’t underestimate any team; we’ve observed domestic cricket here, and a target of 390 has been successfully chased,” Jemimah told the broadcasters.
