Preity Zinta, who possesses a mansion in Los Angeles alongside her husband Gene Goodenough, expressed her thoughts on the tragic wildfires in an emotional post. The Bollywood actress shared her worries for those impacted and commended the work of firefighters and emergency responders in a heartfelt message.

Fierce winds have transformed wildfires into destructive blazes throughout Los Angeles, resulting in at least 13 fatalities and destroying over 12,000 buildings, officials reported on Sunday.

Devastated by the disaster that left numerous houses to rubble, Preity mourned the tragedy on X and wrote, “I never thought I would live to see a day where fires would ravage neighbourhoods around us in La, friends & families either evacuated or put on high alert, ash descending from smoggy skies like snow & fear & uncertainty about what will happen if the wind does not calm down with toddlers and grandparents with us. I’m heartbroken at the devastation around us and grateful to god that we are safe as of now (sic).”

She added, “My thoughts and prayers to people who are displaced and have lost everything in these fires. I hope the wind dies down soon and the fires are contained. A big thank you to the fire department, firefighters, and everyone else helping to save lives and property. Stay safe, everyone (sic).”

Firefighters are involved in a tough fight against the fire, with authorities cautioning that powerful winds predicted for overnight and the beginning of next week may threaten their advancements.

The Palisades Fire, the biggest of four ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County, has expanded by an additional 1,000 acres, damaging more residences and prompting immediate evacuations. More than 100,000 people are still displaced as the Eaton Fire in Altadena and additional fires keep raging.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
