Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG), VK Saxena, has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to extend the Single Window Special Camps for the Pradhan Mantri Unauthorized Colonies Awas Yojana (PM-UDAY) until March 2025. The decision follows an overwhelming response from residents seeking ownership rights for their properties in unauthorized colonies.

Between November 30 and December 22, 2024, these camps operated over eight weekend days, attracting nearly 20,000 attendees, including 3,599 new applicants. During this period, officials issued 1,152 Conveyance Deeds and Authorization Slips, and 283 properties were registered by Sub-Registrars, providing legal ownership to beneficiaries.

The camps were held in various unauthorized colonies, including Burari, Raj Nagar, Maidan Garhi, Rohini, Mohan Garden, Baprola, Sangam Vihar, Raja Vihar, Patparganj, and Aya Nagar. Notably, the presence of officials from the DDA, Revenue Department, and Sub-Registrars on-site ensured seamless processing, from issuing Conveyance Deeds to finalizing property registrations.

This initiative has significantly advanced the PM-UDAY scheme, which aims to regularize unauthorized colonies by granting property ownership rights. The DDA’s extensive public outreach, under the guidance of LG Saxena, has been pivotal in accelerating the program’s implementation.

Saxena, who has been closely monitoring the scheme’s progress, previously identified bureaucratic hurdles, such as red tape and inaccessibility, as key challenges. To address these issues, he directed the DDA to organize camps directly in unauthorized colonies, simplifying the process and encouraging community participation.

The extension of these camps reflects a determined effort to regularize properties and improve the lives of residents in unauthorized colonies across Delhi.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
