10 Lucknow hotels get bomb threat mails: $55,000 ransom demanded to avoid explosions

On Sunday, bomb threats were sent via emails to at least 10 major hotels in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, with most being high-end properties. The email warned that the explosion would happen unless the ransom of $55,000 (Rs 4,624,288) was paid.

“Bombs are hidden in black bags on the grounds of your hotel. I want $55,000, or I will detonate the explosives and blood will spread everywhere. Any attempt at defusing the bombs will detonate them,” reads the bomb threat email.

The hotels that received bomb threats are Marriott, Saraca, Piccadily, Comfort Vista, Fortune, Lemon Tree, Clark Awadh, Casa, Dayal Gateway, and Silvette.

After receiving the threat, hotel management informed the police, prompting swift investigations by local authorities.

Recent series of Bomb threats

This occurred two days following bomb threats received by three hotels in the temple area of Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh. The email mentioned that the arrest of Jaffer Sadiq had led to increased international pressure, suggesting that incidents like the attacks in schools were needed to shift focus away from MK Stalin family’s role in the case.

The Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru also got a bomb threat email last month. This resulted in the officials calling in sniffer dogs and the bomb squad to conduct an inspection. Nevertheless, following the investigation, a senior police officer stated that the bomb threat was a false alarm.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
