However, the government has not revealed the agenda for the special sitting of Parliament.
In response to the news of the special session, Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said it was “unfortunate” that the meeting was “called during India’s most important festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.” The proposal for the special meeting “goes against the Hindu sentiments,” she continued.
The Monsoon Session of the Parliament took place from July 20 to August 11 with a total of 17 sittings spread over a period of 23 days. The sessions saw disruptions almost every day over the violence in Manipur and the opposition leaders moved a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
