Ex-President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, aged 78, slammed ABC News for breaching a deal with his campaign by fact-checking him during a recent debate.

Trump criticized ABC’s moderators, specifically David Muir, for fact-checking his statements about increasing crime rates in the US during a campaign event in New York City on Thursday, as reported by Fox News.

ABC News hosted the initial presidential debate featuring Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on September 10, with US media declaring Harris as the debate winner.

Donald Trump has taken part in election cycle debates before. During the last election, there was a debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, where it was said that Biden was the loser.

Trump claims moderators were too easy on Kamala Harris

During the event, Trump expressed frustration with Muir’s moderation, stating, “I had one against three, but I think we did great. But David Muir of ABC, fake news, when I said that crime is way up in our country, he corrected me… but he didn’t correct Kamala Harris one time,” reported Fox News.

The ex-president alleged that ABC News violated an agreement with his campaign by fact-checking during the debate, contrary to what was initially agreed upon. ABC and we agreed that there would be no changes of any sort, but they broke the agreement. What is the reason? Trump stated that they are bad individuals and are spreading falsehoods.

Trump referred to a specific moment in the debate when Muir allegedly challenged his statement on crime.

“He said, ‘No, no, crime has not gone up.’ I said crime has gone up massively. He said, ‘I’d like to state for the record that crime has not gone up,'” Trump recalled, adding that his statistics were accurate.

Trump also slammed co-moderator Linsey Davis for fact-checking during the debate. I have not heard about her before. I never want to hear about her. She was awful. He said he had no idea how she got her job in the first place.
Conservative critics have also been unhappy with ABC’s debate moderation, claiming that Muir and Davis were too tough on Trump and too easy on Vice President Kamala Harris. During the debate, Trump faced fact-checking five times whereas Harris’s statements were not questioned.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
