A Sikh group supported by the BJP demonstrated outside Delhi resident of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in opposition to his remarks about the status of the Sikh community in India. The protestors tried to breach the police barriers on Janpath road.
Rahul Gandhi spoke on religious freedom during US visit
This occurred following Rahul Gandhi’s comment on religious liberty in the nation. Gandhi, currently visiting the US for four days, spoke to a crowd of hundreds of Indian Americans in Herndon, a Virginia suburb of Washington DC, on Monday.
“The dispute revolves around whether a Sikh can wear his turban or kada in India. He will have the ability to attend the gurdwara as a Sikh. That is the reason for the conflict. this applies not only to him but to all religions,” Rahul stated.
The BJP sharply reacted to the comment, accusing Gandhi of attempting to create a “dangerous narrative” by discussing “sensitive issues” overseas.

Today in Delhi, there was a protest outside his residence by a Sikh group supported by the BJP.
The agitators held placards saying “Why does Rahul Gandhi defame Sikhs after going abroad? shame on you, shame on you”.
