Brendon McCullum appointed as England new white-ball coach

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Tuesday that Brendon McCullum, the England coach, will also lead the limited-overs teams of England starting in 2025. McCullum is currently the head coach of England's Test team and will now also lead the white-ball teams after Matthew Motts resigned post the 2024 T20 World Cups.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Tuesday that Brendon McCullum, the England coach, will also lead the limited-overs teams of England starting in 2025. McCullum is currently the head coach of England’s Test team and will now also lead the white-ball teams after Matthew Motts resigned post the 2024 T20 World Cups.

McCullum will lead both Test and limited-overs team from January 2025

The ECB announced that the New Zealander will lead both the Test and limited-overs teams starting in January 2025, aligning with England’s limited-overs tour of India and the ICC Champions Trophy.

The 42-year-old from New Zealand has signed a contract extension for 18 months until the end of 2027, officially becoming the head coach of the one-day international and Twenty20 teams in January, just in time for a tour of India and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Robert Key expresses excitement about McCullum’s appointment

“I’m delighted that Brendon has chosen to do both roles now with England,” said Rob Key, managing director of England men’s cricket.

“I feel we are very lucky that a coach as high in quality as him is willing to fully dedicate himself to English cricket. Over the past two years, ongoing conflicts between formats have presented difficulties in the white-ball setting. Thankfully, these are beginning to ease as of January,” he added.

McCullum felt excited for the new challenge ahead

McCullum, a former New Zealand captain, said he was excited to extend his role.

“I am excited to take on this new challenge and collaborate with Jos (Buttler) and the team to strengthen the existing foundation. There is a great deal of talent in English cricket, and I am excited to assist these players in reaching their maximum potential,” he said.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
