Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of late Congressman and former Kerala chief minister K Karunakaran, joined the BJP on Thursday.

Padmaja Venugopal left the Congress primary membership prior to joining the BJP.

Following her BJP membership, Padmaja stated that the Congress lacks leadership.

“For a very long time, I was not happy with the Congress. I voiced my concerns to the top leadership, but received no answer. My father responded in the same way, to his great dismay. That’s the reason I made this choice. I want a quiet workspace,” she said.

On Wednesday, Padmaja deleted a Facebook post where she had dismissed reports suggesting her switching sides.

Her brother, K Muraleedharan, a party MP, claimed on Thursday that her choice was a betrayal and would have no positive impact whatsoever on the BJP.

As far as those with a secular mindset were concerned, Muraleedharan stated that their father, Karunakaran, had never compromised with communalism and that it was a sad conclusion for a member of his family to join the BJP.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
