All eyes on Upcoming T20 World Cup
The T20 World Cup, which is slated to start on June 2, will immediately follow IPL 2024. Cricket fans will be preparing for the ICC event as this year is shaping up to be an action-packed one. With the competition taking place in the USA and the West Indies, India’s champion batsman Virat Kohli will be the one to watch out for.
Though Kohli’s T20 batting approach raised some eyebrows before the IPL 2024, the seasoned batter has shown a new side to his game this year.
The RCB star is currently at the top of run getters chart with 661 runs in 13 matches, at a strike rate of 155.16.
His strike rate has drawn criticism from some quarters. However, the reality is that he has the third-best strike rate among the top ten Indian run scorers this season, trailing only Rishabh Pant (155.40) and Sanju Samson (156.52).
Thus, a lot of supporters will be looking forward to Kohli build on his IPL success and lead India to the T20 World Cup title next month. 2013 saw India’s last ICC championship win.

Usain Bolt shows his admiration for Kohli
As the T20 World Cup brand ambassador, Usain Bolt also referred to Kohli as “the standout one,” drawing comparisons between the former captain of India and players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.
“Over the years, one of my favourites growing up was Wasim Akram because of the in-swinging yorker that he had. Of course, Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose, all these guys that I admired over the years, they were so dominant in their space. Like my father, I always support the West Indies (laughs). But yes, I have also been a Sachin Tendulkar fan. He and Brian Lara were part of my life growing up. It was a great rivalry,” he said referring to the two legendary batters,” Bolt told PTI.
“Kohli is the standout one for sure,” he added.

Thanks to Kohli’s heroics, RCB have turned around their dismal IPL 2024 season and are now in playoff contention with one game left. This season, he has led by example, even though he is no longer the official team captain.
On the other hand, Usain Bolt is regarded as one of the greatest athletes ever.
