The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested a Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent, who was posted at the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
Since 2021, Satyendra Siwal has held a posting at the Embassy. As an India Based Security Assistant (IBSA), he was employed there.
The Anti-Terrorism Squad was tipped off about a spy working out of the Indian Embassy in Moscow, an official statement said.
In response to the information, Siwal was questioned by UP ATS, and at first, he provided inadequate responses. Nevertheless, he ultimately admitted to spying and was taken into custody in Meerut.
During questioning, Satyendra Siwal disclosed that he had a practice of luring Indian government officials with cash in order to obtain knowledge on the Indian Army and how it operated on a daily basis. Additionally, he has been charged with providing ISI handlers with sensitive and private information from the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Defence, and External Affairs.
