According to the Central Railways, two coaches of a cargo train derailed on Sunday close to the Kasara railway station in Maharashtra. Twenty express train routes were rerouted as a result of the disaster. Four additional fast trains, however, experienced delays in operation, according to Central Railways.
Mail express traffic from Kasara to Igatpuri downline and the middle line were affected, the Central Railways said, adding that upline traffic between Igatpuri and Kasari remained operational. No injuries or casualties were reported till now.
The 20 express trains whose movements were affected were — 17612 Mumbai CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) Nanded Express, 12105 CSMT Gondia Express, 12137 CSMT-Firozpur Punjab Mail Express, 12289 CSMT Nagpur Duronto Express, 12111 CSMT Amaravati Express, 12809 CSMT Howrah Express, 17057 CSMT-Secunderabad Express, 12322 CSMT Howrah Express, 18029 LTT Shalimar Express, 12167 LTT Varanasi Express, 12141 LTT Patliputra Express, 11057 CSMT Amritsar Express, 22538 LTT Gorakhpur, 20103 LTT Gorakhpur Express, 12165 LTT Gorakhpur Express, 15017 LTT Gorakhpur, 12171 LTT Haridwar Express, 22177 CSMT Varanasi Express and 12859 CSMT Howrah Express.
The Central Railways promptly dispatched two accident relief trains from Kalyan and Igatpuri to the site for necessary assistance. While the details of the incident are still awaited, the authorities are likely to work towards a swift resolution to restore normal railway operations on the affected lines.
