Trump Enraged Over Israel’s Iran Gas Hit, Warns Against Further Strikes

U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel will halt further attacks on Iran’s South Pars gas field unless Tehran targets Qatar, warning of overwhelming U.S. retaliation if Doha’s LNG infrastructure is hit again.

Iran escalated the conflict by striking gas facilities in Qatar after Israel attacked the shared South Pars field, with QatarEnergy reporting major fires and extensive damage but no casualties.

March 19: U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that Israel will refrain from further strikes on Iran’s crucial South Pars gas field unless Tehran “unwisely” targets Qatar. His remarks followed a sharp escalation in regional tensions, after Iran struck energy facilities in Qatar in retaliation for an earlier Israeli attack on the South Pars offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) field, which Iran shares with Doha.

Trump said Israel’s strike was driven by anger over the ongoing conflict and insisted that Washington had no prior knowledge of the operation. Posting on Truth Social, he described the Israeli action as a limited hit on a small section of the vast gas field and stressed that Qatar had no involvement or forewarning.

He added that Iran, unaware of these details, responded by “unjustifiably” attacking parts of Qatar’s LNG infrastructure.

Trump declared that no further Israeli strikes on South Pars would occur unless Iran targets Qatar again. However, he issued a stark warning that if Tehran does attack Qatar, the United States—“with or without” Israel’s support—would respond with overwhelming force against the entire South Pars facility. While expressing reluctance to authorize such масштаб destruction due to long-term consequences for Iran, he said he would not hesitate if Qatar’s energy assets were hit again.

Iran’s Attack on Qatar
State-owned QatarEnergy reported that Iranian missile strikes caused major fires and extensive damage at multiple LNG sites. Emergency crews are working to contain the blazes, and no casualties have been reported so far. Qatar, a key global supplier of natural gas, had already halted production earlier in the conflict, and the latest damage could delay its return to global markets.

Contrary to reports from Axios, U.S. President Donald J. Trump states that the United States “knew nothing” about Wednesday’s attack by Israel against Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, adding that “Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it… pic.twitter.com/Xry251oIez

Israeli Strike and Regional Fallout
Israel’s strike on Iran’s South Pars field marked a significant escalation, targeting a cornerstone of the region’s energy infrastructure. Iran retaliated by widening its attacks across the Gulf, including strikes on energy facilities in Qatar and in the United Arab Emirates, where sites such as Habshan and the Bab field were hit. Authorities in Abu Dhabi condemned the attacks as a “dangerous escalation,” noting that operations had been suspended following aerial interceptions.

In response, Qatar ordered Iranian embassy officials to leave the country within 24 hours, underscoring the deepening diplomatic rift.

The widening conflict has placed Gulf states under mounting pressure. Despite repeated attacks on their military bases, civilian infrastructure, and energy assets since the war began on February 28, they have so far avoided direct offensive action against Iran.

Oil Prices Surge
Global energy markets have reacted sharply. Oil prices jumped more than 5 percent to above $108 per barrel, driven by concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. Brent crude prices have surged nearly 50 percent since the conflict began.

Amid efforts to stabilize supply, the U.S. administration has also moved to ease sanctions on Venezuela, allowing American firms to resume dealings with its state-run oil sector in a bid to offset potential shortages.
