The Trump administration has significantly impacted numerous international students preparing to set up their U.S. visa interviews. POLITICO reports that US embassies and consulates have been ordered to halt the scheduling of interviews for those applying for student visas.

As per a cable obtained by POLITICO reveals that the Trump administration is thinking about requiring social media checks for all international students seeking to study in the United States, marking a significant increase in previous initiatives.

Consequently, the Trump administration has put a hold on all new student visa interviews while it considers broadening social media assessment.

As per the cable, which is signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the administration is directing US embassies and consular offices to halt scheduling new interviews for those student visa applicants in anticipation of the necessary examination.

The administration is deliberating on whether all international students seeking to study in the U.S. should be required to undergo social media screening.

Nonetheless, according to the Septel, individuals with scheduled interviews will not be affected.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Embassy declared on its official X account that thousands of student visa applications are currently open under Mission India. According to the Global Visa Wait Times tables, as of May 25, the estimated wait times for new visa appointments in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai are 2 months.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
