Trump asserted that Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones has been dramatically curtailed, and that the command structure of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is being systematically dismantled.

April 2, 2026: In a forceful address from the White House, Donald Trump declared that the United States is close to achieving its military goals in the ongoing conflict with Iran, signalling both imminent escalation and a potential endgame to the war.
The US president said Washington’s campaign—launched jointly with Israel—has significantly weakened Tehran’s military capabilities and is now approaching its “core strategic objectives.” He warned, however, that the next two to three weeks would see some of the most intense strikes yet, with US forces set to hit Iran “extremely hard” if a resolution is not reached.

Claims of Battlefield Dominance
Trump described the operation as a rapid and decisive success, claiming that Iran’s naval and air power had been effectively neutralised. He said the country’s military leadership had been severely degraded and that the command structure of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was being dismantled.
According to Trump, Iran’s ability to deploy missiles and drones has been sharply reduced, while key weapons infrastructure—including factories and launch systems—has been heavily targeted.
“Our enemies are losing, and America is winning—bigger than ever before,” he said, framing the campaign as a continuation of his administration’s broader national security strategy.
War Nearing Its End
Trump stated that the US objective has been to systematically dismantle Iran’s capacity to threaten American interests or project power beyond its borders. He expressed confidence that these goals are close to being fulfilled.
“Core strategic objectives are nearing completion,” he said, adding that the US would “finish the job very fast.”
At the same time, he reiterated that the US would continue to defend its regional allies, including Israel, and ensure they are not harmed as the conflict unfolds.
Warning of Further Escalation
Despite signalling progress, Trump issued stark warnings about what lies ahead if diplomatic efforts fail. He said Iran could face intensified attacks, including potential strikes on critical infrastructure such as power plants.
“Over the next two to three weeks, we are going to bring them back to the Stone Ages,” he said, underscoring the possibility of a sharp escalation.
He also called on international partners to play a more active role in securing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil transit route that has been at the centre of rising tensions.

Justifying the Conflict
Trump maintained that the war was necessary to ensure the safety of the United States and global stability. While he said regime change was not an explicit goal, he suggested that leadership losses in Iran had already altered the country’s power structure.
He accused Iran’s leadership of pursuing nuclear weapons and sponsoring regional instability, arguing that such a threat could not be allowed to materialise.
Reaffirming a long-standing position, Trump said he would “never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” adding that earlier diplomatic efforts had failed due to Tehran’s unwillingness to compromise.
Oil and Global Impact
Addressing concerns over energy markets, Trump blamed Iran for recent volatility in oil prices, citing attacks on commercial tankers. He urged countries reliant on Middle Eastern oil to secure shipping routes and reduce dependence on the region.
He also highlighted the United States’ position as a leading energy producer, saying it is well-equipped to withstand disruptions caused by the conflict.
Praising regional allies—including Israel and Gulf nations—Trump said their cooperation had been critical to the campaign, describing them as “great partners” in the effort.
