Trinamool Congress MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty has announced her retirement from the position, citing dissatisfaction with the local party leadership in her area.
The constituency of Jadavpur was won by Mimi Chakraborty in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019.
Mamata Banerjee, the head of the Trinamool Congress, has received the actor’s resignation.
But since she hasn’t submitted her resignation letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, this won’t be considered her official resignation.
After seeing Mamata Banerjee, Mimi Chakraborty spoke to the media and stated, “Today, I met our party supremo.” On February 13, I had handed in my resignation to her. After all these years, I’ve come to the realization that politics is not my thing.”
When asked why, in accordance with protocol, she submitted her resignation to Mamata Banerjee rather than the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Chakraborty replied, “Once I get the nod from the TMC, I will submit it to the Speaker.”
She replied she wouldn’t deny it when asked if the local leadership was impeding her ability to make decisions.
“Compromise on her mental peace” is not something Mimi Chakraborty will tolerate. She declared, “I won’t be where I’m not happy.”
