The Indian subcontinent which lies outside the path of totality will not be possible to see Monday’s Total Solar Eclipse, which is expected to turn the sun dark during the day. However, astronomy aficionados in India can view the celestial spectacle via a live stream from NASA that starts at 10.30 p.m. IST.

The event is scheduled to begin in the US state of Texas at 11:57 p.m. IST on Monday and end in Maine at 1:05 a.m. on Tuesday, with an estimated 31.6 million spectators.

What is Solar Eclipse?

According to our schooling in childhood, we all know that our planet Earth revolves around a very big star, i.e. the Sun, and our Earth has a satellite – the Moon, which keeps revolving around the Earth.

While the Earth is revolving around the Sun, sometimes the Moon comes between its planet Earth and the Sun, due to which the Sun becomes invisible to the people living on Earth, and this situation is called a solar eclipse. In this situation it is not possible to see the Sun completely or partially from the Earth.

Actually, in such a situation, the Moon blocks the sunlight partially or completely, and the Sun stops being visible on the Earth.

The Solar Eclipse is a celestial or astronomical event which always occurs on Amavasya. During an eclipse, the Moon covers only some part of the Sun, which is called a partial or partial solar eclipse, but sometimes it also happens when the Moon completely covers the Sun, which is called a total solar eclipse.

In this situation, sunlight does not reach the Earth at all, and darkness prevails (although this happens only in a very small part of the Earth). Such eclipse is called total solar eclipse.

What is Partial solar eclipse?

In this situation, the Moon is at a greater distance from its planet Earth, and is not able to cover the Sun completely. In such a situation, only a part of the Sun is not visible from the Earth, and some part of the Sun is affected by the eclipse, and some part remains unaffected at all. The eclipse visible in such a situation is called partial solar eclipse.

What is Annular solar eclipse?

A situation also arises when the Moon is far away from the Earth, and in such a situation it comes between the Earth and the Sun. In this condition, only the central part of the Sun is hidden behind the Moon and from the Earth the Sun is not completely covered, but appears like a ring.

That is, the central part of the Sun becomes completely dark, while the part outside its covered part looks like a light-filled ring, which is also called a ring. Sun visible in this shape

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
