Reports indicate that senior Hezbollah leader Sheikh Muhammad Ali Hammadi, featured on the FBI’s most-wanted list, was killed outside his home in eastern Lebanon.

On Tuesday night, Hammadi died on the spot when unidentified attackers opened fire and shot the senior Hezbollah official six times.

Disregarding any political angle, local sources suggest that Hammadi was killed due to a long-standing family dispute.

Hammadi attracted the attention of the FBI after hijacking a West German aircraft in 1985 that had 153 passengers aboard. He was allegedly engaged in the torture and murder of an American citizen during the flight.

The event occurs during the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. In 2023, Hezbollah participated in Hamas’ conflict against Israel.

Last year, Israel penetrated Hezbollah’s logistics network, leading to multiple walkie-talkies and pagers detonating throughout Syria and Israel. Raising the stakes, Israel killed a minimum of seven high-ranking Hezbollah leaders, among them Hassan Nasrallah, and entered southern Lebanon in the weeks preceding the ceasefire agreement.

The Middle East conflict continues to be tense in 2025, with a delicate ceasefire formed between Israel and Hamas on January 19 following more than a year of violence.

Though the ceasefire has diminished immediate conflicts, Israel intends to sustain its military presence in Gaza, and tensions continue regarding annexation in the West Bank.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
