Search Intensifies After Attack on Indian Air Force Convoy
After a massive search operation to find the gunmen responsible for the attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch sector on Saturday, May 4, there was an exchange of gunfire on Monday night. It’s unclear if the terrorists attacking the IAF convoy on May 4 were the ones putting up a firefight.
Amidst heightened security presence in the vicinity, search operations have ramped up from Surankote to Jarran Wali Gali. Vikky Pahade, an IAF officer, was killed and four others were injured on Saturday when their convoy was attacked.
With full military honors, Pahade’s final rites were carried out on Monday at his hometown of Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. His wife, mother, sisters, and five-year-old son survive him.

IAF Pays Tribute to Corporal Vikky Pahade; Intensified Search Operations Continue

As the security forces gathered information to neutralize the terrorists who had fled into the nearby dense forests following the attack, more than twenty people were being held for interrogation.
The nearby Rashtriya Rifles unit started conducting searches in the area after the attack. After receiving information about the presence of three suspected terrorists, the security forces also established a cordon and conducted a search operation at Kathu village in the Dalhori area of the nearby Rajouri district.
On major roads, a number of checkpoints have been installed. There has also been increased vehicle inspection in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
