Terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir will either be sent to jail or jahannum (hell), the government told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Nityanand Rai reacts to a supplementary question from Congress’ Pramod Tiwari

Responding to a supplementary question from Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that the Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism and that recently witnessed terrorist activities will be put to an end.

Rai’s remark came as the Union Territory experienced a recent surge in terror strikes, particularly in the Jammu region.

“They (terrorists) will not succeed in their design,” the minister said.

The minister informed the House that 28 terrorists had been slain in Jammu and Kashmir in past few days, along with some security forces.

Rai stated that since Article 370 was repealed in 2019, security personnel have killed about 900 militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism, says Rai

“The Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism. We will eliminate terrorism. They (terrorists) will be either in jail or jahannumm… I want to assure the House,” Rai stated.

The minister further stated that from 2004 to 2014, there were 7,217 acts of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Rai, the number has dropped to 2,259 between 2014, when the BJP was elected, and July 21 of this year.

“These should not have occurred. “It is unfortunate, but they (the opposition) should not politicize it,” the minister stated.

Rai told the House that 2,829 people and security officers died between 2004 and 2014. This number has decreased by 67% since 2014. There has also been a 69% decline in terrorist events.

People in Jammu and Kashmir now live in a tranquil atmosphere with complete security, he stated.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
