On Tuesday, the Supreme Court provided arrest protection to YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia related to several FIRs filed against him for inappropriate jokes made during comedian Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ show. Although providing him with relief, the highest court criticized Allahbadia for “spewing filth in his thoughts” and prohibited him from participating in any additional shows for now.
A panel consisting of Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh, examining Allahbadia’s request, commonly known as ‘BeerBiceps’, to consolidate the FIRs lodged in Mumbai, Guwahati, and Jaipur, stated that such conduct must be condemned regardless of its popularity. It was stated that Allahbadia’s lewd comments revealed his “perverse” mentality, which caused the whole community to feel embarrassed.
The Supreme Court likewise sent a notice to the central government and the administrations of Maharashtra and Assam. It further stated that Allahbadia might contact the police in Maharashtra and Assam to request protection for himself and his family in the event of any threats.

The court stated that no FIRs would be registered against him based on the same allegations and instructed Allahbadia to participate in the investigation and not to exit the country without consent.
“If this isn’t inappropriate, then what is? You can display your crudeness whenever you want and exhibit immorality. Only two FIRs exist. One located in Mumbai and another in Assam. Freedom is an independent matter. Not every situation is directed at you, nor are you caught up in it. Imagine there are 100 FIRs; he could claim he cannot represent himself,” Justice Kant remarked.
“This type of behavior must be denounced.” Being popular does not mean you can overlook society. Is there anyone in the world who will enjoy this language? There is something quite filthy in his thoughts that has been expelled. “Why do we need to safeguard him?” he continued.
Abhinav Chandrachud, the son of former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, represented Allahbadia and stated that his client had received threats to his life. He mentioned a case where a Rs 5 lakh reward was announced for anyone who would sever the YouTuber’s tongue.
