It might seem like a fantasy, but researchers in China and Hong Kong are actively making this extraordinary concept a reality.
About Sinusitis
Sinusitis is a swelling or inflammation of the tissue that lines your sinuses. Sinuses are cavities located within your face that are typically filled with air.
Bacterial infections, viral infections, and allergies can irritate them, leading to blockage and fluid accumulation. This may lead to discomfort and pain in your face, nasal blockage (a congested nose), and various other signs.
Viruses, such as those that lead to the common cold, are responsible for the majority of sinusitis cases. Bacteria may lead to sinusitis or infect you following a viral sinusitis episode.

In experiments with animals, researchers succeeded in delivering these micro-robots into the sinus cavity via a slender tube inserted through the nostril. Made up of a blend of magnetic particles and copper, the robots can be triggered by illuminating them with light via a thin optical fibre. Experts indicate that this advanced treatment may arrive in hospitals within three to five years, contingent on the speed at which it passes safety trials and receives regulatory approvals. If it succeeds, it could transform the treatment of not only sinus infections, but also difficult-to-access infections in the bladder, intestines, or near medical implants.
Dr. Liu Xinyu, a primary researcher, informed The Guardian, “This is merely the start. We’re creating intelligent robots capable of reaching areas where conventional therapies fall short and eliminating infections more effectively.”
