Hathras: Stampede at religious event kills 27
A stampede broke out at a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras on Tuesday, killing 27 people, including three children. Chief Medical Officer Rajkumar Aggarwal confirmed the fatalities, telling India Today that “we have received 27 bodies.”
The stampede took place during a ‘satsang’ (prayer assembly). Visuals from the Community Health Centre showed many dead being transported there in busses and tempos, surrounded by wailing relatives. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the occurrence and, per his instructions, a committee has been formed to probe it.
Speaking about the incident, Etah SSP Rajesh Kumar Singh stated, “A religious event was taking place in a village in Hathras district when the stampede occurred.” So far, 27 dead bodies have been received at Etah Hospital, comprising 23 women, three children, and one man. The injured have not arrived at the hospital. Further investigation is being conducted. The identification of these 27 bodies is now underway.

Lord Shiva’s holy ceremony was held in Hathras. As the celebration closed, a stampede occurred, killing 27 people, including women and children.
There are concerns that more individuals could have died.
CM Yogi directs immediate action
Taking note of the event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials to rush to the location and expedite relief efforts.
Wishing the wounded a swift recovery, the Chief Minister has also directed officials to ensure that the injured receive suitable treatment at the hospital.
A team consisting of the assistant director general of police in Agra and the Aligarh Commissioner has been formed to investigate the event, according to news agency ANI, citing official sources.
