A stage fell during a Jain Nirvana festival in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday morning, resulting in 5 casualities and injuries to many, including women and children.

The event occurred when a temporary stage constructed from bamboo and wood fell apart during a laddoo celebration.

As per police officials, numerous devotees arrived at the location to present laddoos to Lord Adinath while Jain monks were present.

Event conducted every year for almost 30 years

“This event has been conducted for almost 30 years. A minimum of 40 individuals have sustained injuries. They have been taken to the hospital and are receiving treatment,” stated Baghpat’s District Magistrate Asmita Lal.

On Tuesday morning, rescue efforts commenced to free individuals stuck beneath the temporary stage, and officials have taken steps to respond.

Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and instructed local district officials to offer prompt assistance to those injured. He also hoped for a quick recovery for those harmed in the accident.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

A ‘machaan’ (temporary platform) collapsed during the ‘Laddu Mahotsav’ event of the Jain community in Baraut. According to the latest information received, approximately 20-25 individuals sustained injuries. Some had common injuries and were given first aid before being discharged home. 2-3 individuals have suffered serious injuries and are receiving care in local hospitals,” SP Arpit Vijayvargiya told ANI.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
