New Delhi, September 2, 2024 – In a landmark development set to reshape the online gaming landscape in India and the sub-continent, the Skillhub Online Games Federation (SOGF) has signed a groundbreaking cooperation agreement with the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA). This strategic partnership aims to propel the online gaming sector to new heights, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for gamers, developers, and enthusiasts alike, under the expansive umbrella of Mind Games.

The agreement was formalized during a significant board meeting held at the prestigious Taj Palace, New Delhi. The event was graced by the presence of several eminent leaders from both organizations, including:

Revolutionizing Online Gaming: SOGF and IMSA Forge a Visionary Partnership

The collaboration is expected to revolutionize the online gaming sector in the region, with both parties expressing a shared vision to establish a strong governance framework, foster innovation, and develop new opportunities within the industry. The agreement outlines that the two organizations will operate as independent contractors, working collaboratively to achieve their common goals.

Commenting on the partnership, Shri Shankar Aggarwal, President of SOGF, said, “This is a momentous step forward for online gaming in India and the surrounding region. Our collaboration with IMSA will not only enhance the gaming experience but also contribute to the global recognition of India’s growing prowess in eSports and online gaming.”

Jeoffery Borg, CEO of IMSA, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the potential for this partnership to foster innovation and development in the gaming industry.

The board meeting also focused on the strategic intent of the agreement, with discussions centered around the establishment, governance, and ongoing development of the online gaming ecosystem. IMSA

The International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) was founded in Berlin, Germany on April 19, 2005 during the GAISF (then General Association of Sport Federations) annual convention.

IMSA membership currently stands at 8: including the 4 founding international federations, World Bridge Federation (WBF), Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames (FMJD), and Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) and International Go Federation (IGF),

The World Xiangqi Federation (WXF) was added in 2015, the Mahjong International League (MIL) in 2017, the Federation of Card Games (FCG) in 2018 and International eSports Federation in 2022. The World Poker Federation has also joined IMSA as an Observer.

The Association intends to work towards the recognition of the quality of teaching of these disciplines on young people that helps them substantially in their intellectual and emotional growth.

The Association will therefore work in liaison with – in addition to the IOC and SportAccord – all stakeholders who hold common goals, IMSA is convinced of its capacity to improve the level of education in the world, enhance life skills and intelligence and to participate in a more peaceful entente through the practice of these sports.
